The Behn Memorial Foundation, Ponderosa Diamond Club and the Ponderosa High School Baseball Program welcome everyone to the 4th Annual Behn Memorial Father's Day Tournament.

This is an annual Father’s Day event to celebrate the lives of Rob, Lisa, Jordan and Morgan Behn. The tournament this year will be held June 12-15 where we will host 40 games of baseball at Ponderosa, Regis, Arapahoe and Heritage High Schools.

About the Behn Family and the Behn Memorial Foundation

Behn-Family

Rob Behn was a vice president at Arrow Electronics and, in his personal time, coached many youth sports in Buffalo, NY and Parker, CO. Lisa worked at Bath & Body Works and was the consummate “team mom”, always organizing events and fundraisers for her children’s sports teams. Jordan was a 2010 graduate of Ponderosa High School and an outstanding baseball player on his way to playing college baseball. Morgan was an incoming sophomore at Ponderosa High School and also a strong force in competitive softball playing varsity as a freshman. Tragically, the Behn family was taken from us on the morning of August 1, 2010. Jordan’s summer team (HitStreak) had won the Colorado State Connie Mack tournament which had qualified them for the Connie Mack Regionals in Dallas, TX. The family was returning home from this tournament when they were struck head on by a drunk driver.

Prior to this accident, what is now known as the ‘Behn Family Field’, there was a large expanse of open ground filled with dips, bumps, sharp goat head stickers and a back stop which served as the practice facility for Ponderosa Baseball. We hope everyone in the program these days can appreciate the work that has been completed in this area as well as the nicely landscaped area between the Behn Field and the varsity field to make it the premier high school baseball facility it is. Due to large corporate, family and individual donations we were able to 100% pay for and complete the work on the Behn Field in time for the 1st Behn Tournament in 2011 and then the landscaping between the fields before the 2012 tournament. Nowadays, the money we raise from this tournament goes 100% back into PHS sports programs such as continued upgrades to the baseball facilities, softball facilities, $1,000 towards the purchase of a new Gator for the Athletics Department and most recently upgrades to the batting cage and bullpen areas.
